CLASSES AND TRAINING EVENTS

The Trainer’s Viewpoint

At SIT & STAY, my training philosophy is based on a positive, gentle and motivational approach. I firmly believe in training the owners to understand their dogs, learn how to communicate with them, and establish a bond through trust and respect, thereby creating teamwork through patient and effective discipline.

  “It’s never the dog’s fault.”  C.Hollis

I prefer small group classes with no more than 5 dogs and handlers in each class to ensure personal attention. The 6 week basic class, for example, meets once each week. How long does each class last? As long as it takes! I make sure each student is at the same level. Since each class is important it is suggested that you make up lost lessons with a private class for just $10. Completion of all 6 classes is imperative for optimum results. Call for class schedules.

     Train, don’t complain!

Dogs as young as 4 months old can benefit from the basic class, which covers: The Foundation to all learning - sit in heel position, sit/stay, down and down/stay, each with proofing and distractions; the attention exercise (“Watch me”); stand for examination; the meaning of the word “No!”; all heel patterns (left, right, figure eight, fast, slow, about turn, off-leash recall (“Come”) and sit in front.

Once you begin The Foundation to your training, other behavior problems such as mouthing, biting, jumping up, running off, pulling, and even housebreaking with be greatly improved or eliminated.

“Good dogs are trained, not born.” C.Hollis

FREE “Yappy Hour” Puppy Social hour every Sunday from 1-2 pm.  Puppies with at least 2 vaccines (and older dogs needing socialization) are invited to come and play rain or shine in the indoor heated/cooled facility. Run, jump, scoot, crawl, or just have a ball–FREE! Donations are accepted and given to the Beesley Foundation Spay/Neuter Foundation.  Experienced trainer is always available for supervision, guidance, and answering basic questions.  All attendees get a $5 off coupon for any upcoming class.

DAYCARE/OVERNIGHT CARE

Day Care is playtime for your dog! When you cannot give your dog the exercise he needs, or your work day is too long for your dog’s comfort, bring him to SIT & STAY, where he will have full access to The Barking Lot Playground, as well as naptime and biscuit in a clean, spacious sleeper crate.  Fresh, purified water is always available to the guests.

For extended stays, your dog will love the attention and service provided to him at SIT & STAY. Each dog is personally attended to, given several daily walks as well as playtime in the Park.  As always, there is never an extra charge for hugs and kisses, or for administering medications. This most natural setting in a grassy fenced area, with frequent fresh air and exercise and social interaction, will help your dog feel most at home.

For the discriminating pooch, there are two large luxury suites (the Titans suite and the UT suite), as well as the Marmaduke suite for Great Danes (or two small or medium dogs). The hand-painted murals (by Cynthia, known as “C” the Artist, www.ctheartist.com), in these suites are sure to delight your dog’s visual senses. Other accommodations include clean, spacious sleeper crates with lots of toys and chew bones, and fresh, purified water always. Our guests are put to bed each evening with a gourmet biscuit and a kiss.

Reasonable rates start at $10 for day care and $15/night for overnight care. Space is limited to six dogs, so reservations are recommended.
